So, I’m always hearing about people having issues with their tires at the track. Cold tear, hot tear, rebound, shock, blah blah tear. I see people ride half a freggin day on a brand new set of DOTs or slicks, and their tire looks like it went through a meat grinder while on fire…both riders faster AND slower than myself are ending up out ~$350 for a set of tires after a HALF DAY.
Tire vendors love you. Your husband/wife hates you. The Abominable Tire Monster has you.
There’s a VERY simple solution to maximizing your tires’ life as well as grip…We all want our tires to last and stick, right?

What’s so special about the DOT slicks that are on my GSXR600?
Well, those tires have FIFTEEN (15) A and B group sessions at Reno Fernley Raceway this past weekend and 80+ laps at A-pace at Thunderhill raceway. I haven’t cleaned or washed or altered or ridden the tires in ANY way since it’s last lap at Thunderhill on Monday either. It’s just been sitting in the garage on the rear stand.
O RLY? YA SRSLY!
You wanna know how I do it?
Pretty freggin easy:
1) I ride Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires
2) I set my cold pressure to 29 front, 24 rear
3) Dave Moss of Catalyst Reaction setup my suspension to perfection
So go get yourself some proper Pirelli rubber, and have Dave set up your flapper into the golden bike it should be!
Nuff said.
hey man I like it. I’m ready to write more posts and put your ideas to the test. After all, we always have something new to learn and being humble, I came here to learn. Bookmarked.

Sooooo.. setting tire pressure to 60 rear, 58 front isn’t hte best way to max out tire life????
Good Advise Joe! Been there done that. Also when the Pirelli guy (or other tire dude) is around stop by his trailer and ask him how the tire is holding up. One or two pounds difference makes all the difference.
Cheers!
2:38, man, thats awesome…i say quit clickin shutters and go to work for Kegwins or something as an instructor! :-P
makes me feel like a rock star with my 2:17..lol..
I think i’ll try the pirellis, i’ve been a power race fan forever but they do go away quick, and im not that fast…
i just recently switched from michelin power race’s to pirelli diablo rosso corsa’s… and there is a huge difference between wear characteristics. im a pirelli believer!
2:23?!?! GAH!!! that’s FAST! 2:38’s, homie! ;)
Cool. THat combined with your 2:23 “A-” laps at Thill guarantes them suckers to go forever!
