This kid is a beast. He’s my girlfriend, Kinsy’s kid. He’s raced 4 rounds of MiniMotoUSA so far this year, and I just wanted to post up a few pictures showing off how damned adorable and awesome he is motor-scootin around on his little 50 and his pocketbike. He podiums every round racing against some kids twice his age.
So as the day ended, we watched everyone pack up and leave. I came up to the track with two beautiful bikes in the bed of my truck, and now I was leaving with two beat, trashed, and battered bikes. The bikes looked like snicker doodles after rolling around in the Nevada dirt, and my truck was caked as well from my 4wd adventures in the morning. My bank account was hundreds of dollars lighter. A few friends crashed but were ok. I learned a ton about racing and about myself. I had to be at work the next day at 7am. As I arrived at work the next day, I was asked the usual question,
“What did you do this weekend?”
“Did you win?”
After a long pause, I responded, “….ya” with a smile.
This past weekend was supposed to be Kev’s racing debut. A mere 2 weeks ago, he was registered to race with TTP in the Open Street Class…then the unfortunate happened; he fell down while riding with some friends on Wentworth Springs Road. He fractured his L1, 2, and 3, and one of his metacarpals. He was out from the weekend of racing.
He was bummed.
I was bummed.
I was looking forward to watching him highside the gixxer to the moon! *CACKLES!*
6:30 AM Saturday Morning. Hung over. Rain pouring down in Concord. I stumble in the general direction of the computer to refresh the weather underground radar. If the wind was blowing the way the wind always blows, there would be two days of racing for me to shoot. Mother Nature, however, is a whore.
I’ve been walking around in a bit of a daze for the better part of the evening trying to figure out how I’m going to write up this little “race report,” for lack of better words. Should I write it like I normally would trying to make jokes and being happy-go-lucky? Should I talk about [...]
so, i’ve just barely started going through the pics from this weekend… there’s a lot. i wanted to do things differently, so i tried a buncha different stuff than normal.. i’m so sick of all the same shots over and over and over… hulk-smash laptimes! rawr!
So, I expected hellish June temperatures…but instead, all weekend, we were treated to March-like weather… what gives? Is the world going to implode next week? Is global warming a myth afterall? Is it really global cooling we have to be worried about? OMG, should I dig a bunker in my back yard?!? //me runs and [...]
