Lawdy lawd, where do I begin? I’ve got the memory of an elephant—that’s been mortally wounded and had it’s tusks poached—so it’s not like I can actually remember many specifics about round 2…or 3 or 4 or hell, even round 7, just a few days ago.
Someone crashed…that’s all I remember.
Friday night…Things were shaping up for a great weekend.
Then, first thing Saturday morning shooting practice…things took a turn for the worst.
…FML! Basically, in terms you gear-heads will understand, my camera threw a rod, mulched the crank, and my exhaust packing blew out at the same time. Needs a new motor, frame, and rider. Haha!
What’s changed? Well…nothing, really…I’m still the same ol’ schmuck I was before. White Kevin, aZn Kevin, Toe, Matt, Max…all the same goobers as before… :) I guess the venue has changed. No longer are the days of Z2 or Precision Trackdays…no more drama, no more whining, complaining, and pissing, and moaning (anyone catch that song reference?).
I want to thank all of you for a good run though. Regardless of the outcome, all of you have been what’s made the last few years of my life some of the best years of my life. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
I can tell you that the last few months have been pretty hectic. Lots of personal stuff going on and all that riff-raff…but aside from the personal stuff, I have been getting around a bit… here’s some pics of the last few months of my life, in no particular order. Enjoy.
I pinned the bike, bouncing it off it’s rev limiter and yelled the only thing I could think of at the top of my lungs, “F****************CK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU BEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!” hoping that would scare it.
Evolution. Science has gone along way in convincing me that we evolved from monkeys or fish or something. I get it, it makes perfect sense. The little talking DNA string from Jurassic Park totally made me understand the whole dinosaur thing. I mean, I am not stupid. I can even see where the bible-thumpers are coming from with baby jeebus pouring wine for the ancient homeless and birthing the world and stuff.
None of this explains the F*CKING SQUIRREL.
6:30 AM Saturday Morning. Hung over. Rain pouring down in Concord. I stumble in the general direction of the computer to refresh the weather underground radar. If the wind was blowing the way the wind always blows, there would be two days of racing for me to shoot. Mother Nature, however, is a whore.
so i was talking to this motor builder guy while i’ve got the hood of the element open at an SCCA race event…i asks “you ever work on elements? can you get any power out of them?”
“oh yeah, of course. we actually work on those motors all the time. just depends how much you want to spend…”
“100 bucks,” i laughed to him. he laughed pretty heartily for a minute or two….
We hoofed it double-time Saturday morning because we knew we were going to be gone for a few hours mid day for another event—which I’ll get to in a minute—so that way we’d have the best variety of pics of everyone out there on track. We shot non-stop from about 9:30 until 11:45.
This “other event” was a charity bikini bike wash held over at 2 Wheel Custom Performance in Reno. We thought it’d be great to get some PR shots and the likes. So we hang out there for about an hour and a half takin pics and the likes…
This past weekend, Tomas the Terrible joined me after a brief hiatus for some 24 Hours of LeMons action up at Reno Fernley Raceway as well as shooting a wedding for a racer friend of ours.
We headed out Thursday night as there was a Friday practice for all the LeMons Racers.
What is The 24 Hours of LeMons? Well, put frankly, it’s a 24 hour endurance race where people buy pieces of shit cars for $500 or less, put all kinds of ridiculous decorations and whatnot on them…
